Analysis:

All in all, I believe Matched is a great example of mythology. It had many symbols and character archetypes. The hero/heroine goes on a journey and has to experience many sacrifices and hardships.

I believe the best interpretations of mythology this book did were the symbols. There were so many, that I had no trouble coming up with enough of them, and there many others that I could have used as well, but I tried to pick the most important and prominent ones. Symbols were sometimes the entire base of the plot. They were rich and extensive.

Matched lacks in sticking with the themes of mythology in the areas of mythological creatures and the fact that it takes place in the future instead of the past, so it is non-traditional. But that's okay. It was a fantastic book, and I enjoyed reading it very much. So much, that I can't wait to read Crossed and Reached (Reached comes out November 13th! EEEEPPP! Fan girl moment!).
